Portland Photo Diary

Here are some photos from my trip to Portland, Oregon during the last few days and some thoughts on my mind.

Expectations. How high is too high? How low is too low? Can you place a high expectation on someone you believe in, but not give them an unhealthy amount of pressure? Can you set a high expectation for someone, but then not be angry with them when they make a mistake? People always say, "Expect nothing, and you won't be disappointed." However, I say to expect the best in people. But don't stress them out when they fail. Know that things don't always happen the way you want them to. People are unpredictable. I'm unpredictable. When people mess up, forgive them. We've all fallen before. It is not our place to judge other's faults. 

And I leave you with my favourite paragraph from a book I just finished:

"When adults say, "Teenagers think they are invincible" with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, they don't know how right they are. We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail."
